HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The newest entrant to the Huntsville restaurant scene opened this week to “standing room only” crowds – that is, standing in line.
In the heat.
When the staff at the new Chipotle Mexican Grill opened their doors Tuesday, they were greeted by a long line of customers waiting to taste the business’s Mexican fare.
The restaurant is at 5900 University Drive, next to Earth Fare, across from Madison Square Mall.
There are more than 1,250 restaurants – all company owned and operated; Chipotle doesn’t franchise. The Denver-based company plans to open between 155 and 165 restaurants this year.
“The two primary drivers of our business are our food culture, which is rooted in our quest to find better, more sustainable sources for all of the food we serve, and to prepare all of our food using classic cooking methods,” Communications Director Chris Arnold said in an email.
Arnold said the company also promotes from within.
“About 98 percent of all of our restaurant managers come from within the ranks of our crew,” he said.
Along with Earth Fare, the 2,400 square foot establishment joins Guitar Center, Powerhouse Gym and Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts at the center on University Drive.
The restaurant is open daily 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call 256-895-7761
